Tetsuya Nomura, the director of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, has spoken about the upcoming PS4 title in an interview with Famitsu. Quare Enix has shifted the development of Final Fantasy 7 Remake from external partner CyberConnect 2 to its in-house team. Having been announced almost two years ago now, we still have no idea when FF7 Remake will be launching. Taking development duties away from CyberConnect 2 is a “sensitive subject” according to Square Enix via Kotaku.
“We’ve taken over the development side of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake,” Square Enix’s Naoki Hamaguchi explains. “Up until now, development has progressed by receiving external collaboration, but from here on out, with production and quality in mind, we’re shifting to our in-house organisation.”
Square Enix unveiled a new image for Final Fantasy 7 Remake during the original’s 20th anniversary event. Many of us were expecting a new teaser trailer, but this will have to do.
Square Enix have also revealed that they will be holding a pop-up event in London to mark the 30th anniversary of the Final Fantasy series. The limited-time pop-up experience will be taking place in Covent Garden between November 3 and November 5.Fans will get the opportunity to play games from the iconic series, purchase limited edition merchandise and enjoy a selection of Final Fantasy artwork.
