Streaming app Kodi has officially launched on the Xbox One meaning users can now watch video content on their consoles for free. The feature is still in the early stages of development and, according to the company, The App has some “very rough edges” that they are attempting to work out,
“Some parts are not even finished yet and our developers are still working on getting it up to the regular standard,” the company said in a blog post .
Kodi has made a name for itself as one of the most versatile streaming apps, because it allows users to download plug-ins and add-ons that provide free access to films, TV series and live sports events.
But the app has become notorious as some people are using it to stream pirated entertainment which has been illegally copied.
Kodi has been at the centre of a huge campaign by copyright owners to shut down these pirate streams over the past year, which has resulted in many of the most popular add-ons disappearing from the service. While many of these add-ons are perfectly legal, others provide access to so-called pirate streams, which have been illegally copied without the consent of the copyright owner.

The campaign has also targeted unscrupulous retailers, who sell set-top boxes pre-loaded with third party Kodi add-ons that offer instant access to pirated content.
For Kodi, the launch on Xbox One is something of a homecoming. Originally named the Xbox Media Center (XBMC), the service was designed to allow users to watch video and TV on their games console
