PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) was released via Early Access on 23 March 2017 and has sold over four million copies since. It costs £26.99/$29.99 to download from Steam or Green Man Gaming and will launch, as it stands, on PS4 and Xbox One later this year.
Bluehole said the following about it’s upcoming console Launch .
“ By partnering with Microsoft, our team believes that we will be able to accelerate console development, while maintaining quality across all platforms, as well as giving us access to vast sales, marketing and publishing resources that will help us reach new fans to welcome to the PlayerUnknowns Battlegrounds universe,”
“We are excited to continue and further strengthen our partnership with Microsoft and are super excited to meet the Xbox community. We will be launching exclusively on Xbox One in the Xbox Game Preview program later this year and we can’t wait to see all the Xbox fans on the battlefield.”
Just in case you don’t know, Battlegrounds takes place on a remote island where 100 players compete to be the sole survivor. Similar to games like DayZ, players must gather supplies, armour and weapons in order to defeat other players. And in a unique twist, the battleground actually gets smaller as games go on.
“Players will enter a last-man-standing battle where they try to locate weapons, vehicles and supplies in a graphically and tactically rich battleground that eventually forces players into a shrinking play zone as they engage in a tense and spectacular fight to the death,” reads a Bluehole statement.
